What is Vampire Facial ?
Vampire Facial is a combination of a microneedling, followed by the application of PRP (platelet-rich plasma).The PRP is derived by spinning the blood and separating the serum portion of the blood, which contains platelets. The serum contains platelets , which contain high levels of growth factors. When this is applied to the skin, it will stimulate cell growth and turnover.
Platelets, are rich in growth factors, which essentially act as growth factors for our skin. This helps our skin function optimally, increasing everything from collagen to elastin, while also bringing antioxidant and hydrating properties.
When we age, our skin’s ability to produce collagen and maintain hydration is significantly reduced.PRP treatment reverses signs of skin aging in areas like the face, neck and décolletage.
How Is The Vampire Facial® Performed ?
There are three steps to a Vampire Facial:
Step 1
At Lifestyle Physicians, Dr. Verma uses a special centrifuge called MEDIFUGE and is able to extract cellular growth factor concentrate into a tube with no added preservatives. This is a step ahead of the regular PRP where additives are used in the tube to prevent coagulation
Step 2
Next step is Microneedling, which is also referred to as Collagen induction therapy.This is a procedure that uses a pen device to induce micro-injuries in the skin. The tiny channels produced by this process allows for deeper penetration of the PRP .It also allows it to stimulate the skin to heal itself through collagen production and cell regeneration.
At Lifestyle Physicians we use Skinpen, which is a FDA approved micro needling device , ensuring that no cross contamination occurs .
During the microneedling process , the PRP is applied on to the face and this helps it to penetrate into the dermis to have the maximum effect .We do use a topical numbing cream to alleviate any discomfort with microneedling indications
Step 3
Recovery: the face may remain red for some time. It varies from person to person . Since its your own blood , there is no chance of any reactions. We will provide with a post faical care kit and complete instructions on how to take care of your skin.
